# Use narration equivalence rules

> Remember an accepted narration and manuscript pair for this book.

A book equivalence rule tells Margent to accept a specific **Narration heard → Manuscript** pair during future proofing in this project.

Use a rule after listening and confirming that a recurring transcription difference is acceptable. For example, the recording may correctly read “streetlamps” while the transcript repeatedly writes “street lamps.”

## Create a rule while reviewing

1. Select the finding in **QA** and listen to the excerpt.
2. Open the **No change needed** dropdown.
3. Under **Future proofing**, choose **Remember this match for this book**.
4. Review both sides of the pair and the number of existing unresolved findings affected.
5. Choose **Treat as equivalent**.

The rule clears the matching current findings shown in the confirmation and applies to future proofing. Confirmed pickups remain intact.

## Add a known pair directly

Open **Book equivalence rules**, choose **Add rule**, and enter **Narration heard** and **Manuscript**. Save the rule for future runs. Adding a rule directly does not perform the finding card’s bulk resolution of existing findings.

A rule belongs to this book/project. It does not change the manuscript, edit the recording, or become a global pronunciation dictionary.
