# Create a project

> Set up a book, its client, and your role in the production.

Create one project to keep a book’s manuscript, recordings, and pickups together.

1. Open **Projects** and choose **New Project**.
2. Select an existing client, or enter a name and choose the option to create a client.
3. Enter a project name. Add dates and other project details when you know them.
4. Choose **Your role** and whether you are responsible for delivery.
5. Optionally attach a manuscript or paste its text. Confirm the selected file and the manuscript processing step when prompted.
6. Finish creating the project.

The project name and client are required. You can start without a manuscript and add it later.

## Choose a useful project name

Use the book title or a title you and your client will recognize. Chapter recordings and pickups belong inside that project.

## Add the manuscript now or later

Manuscript import accepts **PDF, EPUB, DOCX, and TXT**, as well as pasted text. Importing builds the reading sections you use in Studio and QA. Allow processing to finish, then check the section boundaries and text before uploading audio.

**Next:** [Add and check manuscript sections](/getting-started/manuscript-sections).
