# Add and check manuscript sections

> Import your manuscript and make sure the right text belongs to each chapter.

Reading sections connect your manuscript to chapter recordings and pickups. A section can be a chapter or another passage you intend to narrate.

## Import the manuscript

1. Open the project’s manuscript workspace.
2. Choose **Upload manuscript** if the project has no manuscript yet. If you already imported one, **Add version** creates another manuscript version.
3. Choose a PDF, EPUB, DOCX, or TXT file, or use the available pasted-text option.
4. Confirm the import and wait for the reading sections to appear.
5. Open several sections and check the titles, beginning, ending, and reading text against your source.

## Correct section boundaries

Open **Manage sections** to rename sections, distinguish reading sections from dividers, merge stray sections, or preview a new split. A divider such as “Part One” organizes the book; it is not a recording section.

Use the split preview to inspect the proposed sections before applying it. Read any warnings about formatting or existing section edits. Merging or rebuilding sections changes the manuscript structure, so do this before you start chapter QA when possible.

## Correct imported text

Use **Repair manuscript** for OCR or extraction errors in section text. Check names, numbers, and punctuation against the original manuscript rather than changing them to match a transcription.

If you change the manuscript after proofing, existing findings may refer to the older text. See [Manuscript changed after proofing](/troubleshooting/manuscript-changed).

**Next:** [Read in Studio](/studio/read-and-navigate) or [upload a chapter recording](/recordings/upload).
