# Glossary

> The terms used across Margent’s narrator workflow.

| Term | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Book / project** | The project containing a book’s manuscript and production work. A book equivalence rule is scoped to this project. |
| **Reading section / chapter** | A passage of manuscript used for reading and chapter QA. A divider organizes sections without being a recording section. |
| **Studio** | The manuscript reading workspace where you can navigate passages and mark pickups. |
| **QA** | The chapter workspace for reviewing narration findings and working through pickups. |
| **Proofing** | Processing uploaded narration against the selected manuscript text to identify possible differences. |
| **Finding** | A possible difference that still needs your judgment. A finding is not automatically a confirmed error. |
| **Expected** | The manuscript wording used for the proofing comparison. |
| **Heard** | The transcription’s wording for the corresponding narration. Listen to the source audio to verify it. |
| **Pickup** | A passage you have decided needs work, created from a finding or manually in Studio. |
| **No change needed** | A decision that the finding does not require a correction. |
| **Completed** | The queue section containing resolved findings and completed pickups. It does not mean the audio has been delivered. |
| **Current recording** | The chapter’s active uploaded source for QA. A replacement becomes current once upload finishes. |
| **Previous recording** | An earlier chapter source. A preserved pickup may still link to it. |
| **Excerpt** | Playback around an available source-audio position associated with a finding or pickup. |
| **Timecode** | A position in the specific source audio file. It may differ in an edited version. |
| **Narration equivalence / book equivalence rule** | An accepted directional pair of heard and manuscript text for future proofing in this project. |
| **False positive** | A flagged difference you determine is acceptable after checking the audio and manuscript. |
| **Pace / WPM** | Average reading speed in words per minute, shown when reliable timing is available. |
| **Manuscript snapshot** | The version of the manuscript text used for a particular proofing run. |

For pronunciation and book-specific terms, use the application’s manuscript glossary. This page explains workflow terminology.
