# Check recording history

> Identify earlier chapter uploads and the source of a preserved pickup.

Open **QA**, select the chapter, and expand **Recording history** when it is available.

The history lists earlier uploads with filenames, dates, and a status such as **Replaced** or **Upload incomplete**. The chapter header continues to identify the current source.

## Find an older pickup’s source

Select the pickup in the chapter queue or **Completed**. Check its filename and timecode. **From previous recording** means the pickup is still linked to earlier audio.

Use its [excerpt tools](/qa/play-excerpt) to listen when source audio is available. The chapter’s current recording and that pickup’s source can be different files.

Recording history is a reference for previous uploads. To make a chapter file current, use [Replace recording](/recordings/replace).
