# Mark a pickup manually

> Save a passage that needs work without waiting for a proofing finding.

You can mark a pickup in Studio whenever you hear or notice something you want to fix. A proofing finding is not required.

1. Open **Studio** and select the correct reading section.
2. Select the exact words or passage that need another take.
3. Choose **Mark pickup**.
4. Review the **Pickup label** and add an optional note, such as “Keep the character voice from the previous line.”
5. Choose **Save pickup**.

The pickup is associated with that section and selected passage. It also appears in the chapter’s QA work queue.

## When a phrase appears more than once

Select the specific occurrence you mean. New text selections save that position so Studio can return to the right occurrence. Older pickups may have text without a precise saved position; check the surrounding passage before recording.

A manually marked pickup may have no audio timecode. Use its manuscript location and note to find the work.
