# Manuscript changed after proofing

> Bring QA back in line with the text you intend to narrate.

A proofing run uses a snapshot of the manuscript. If that text changes, Margent may warn that findings show the original text snapshot and ask you to proof the current chapter before creating new pickups.

1. Open the manuscript and verify the current section’s text and boundaries.
2. Check that your chapter audio corresponds to that text.
3. Return to **QA** and select the chapter.
4. Use [Replace recording](/recordings/replace) to upload the chapter file you want checked against the current text. This can be the same audio file if the audio remains correct.
5. Review the new results when proofing finishes.

Existing confirmed and manual pickups survive recording replacement. Check their saved passages and notes if your manuscript changes moved or removed text.

Avoid changing manuscript text simply to make it agree with an inaccurate transcription. If the recording is correct, use [No change needed](/qa/no-change-needed) or an appropriate [equivalence rule](/equivalences/use-rules).
