Reading pace appears beside the current recording in QA when reliable timing information is available. Open Details to see the average and the book’s target range.

What the number measures

Pace is shown in words per minute (WPM). The measurement includes pauses and retakes within the reading and excludes leading and trailing silence. It is a recording-level guide. Below target, Within range, or Above target compares the average with your chosen range; it does not decide whether the performance is good or whether a particular line needs a pickup.

Change the target

  1. Open the recording’s pace Details.
  2. Choose Edit target.
  3. Enter a minimum and maximum WPM, with the minimum below the maximum.
  4. Choose Save target.
Use whole numbers between 30 and 400. The target applies to all recordings in this book. The initial 140–170 WPM range is a suggested starting point, not a delivery requirement. Changing playback speed while listening does not mean you have changed the original performance. If no reliable pace can be calculated, Margent shows Pace unavailable. See what to check.
